Child Development Program (2025-2026, 2024-2025)

Braille Institute’s Coachella Valley Child Development Program helps families with blind and visually impaired (BVI) children (ages 0-6 years) see beyond sight loss and focus on the bright future ahead. The first five years of life can be a particularly challenging time for BVI children, who face distinct developmental challenges. Without proper support, these children can quickly fall behind their sighted peers. At the same time, their parents often face overwhelming pressure, isolation, and limited access to resources when trying to support their child. The Child Development Program helps bridge these gaps, supporting families during this critical stage of development through one-on-one sessions with a Child Development Consultant, parent education workshops, community group activities, and more.
